Charlotte law enforcement officers who died in shootout identified: 'Forever indebted'

did charlotte cry at funeral

Charlotte, 7, could be seen pointing something out to her 9-year-old brother as the late monarch’s coffin was placed into the hearse. "Princess Charlotte is twinning with her great-grandmother!" one royal fan commented. Princess Charlotte and Prince George joined Middleton and Queen Consort Camilla in a car that rode behind the procession of the Queen's coffin from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch. Following 70 years on the British throne, Elizabeth died on September 8 at her Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Her eldest son, 73, ascended the throne shortly after his mother’s passing. Shortly after taking on his new role, Charles granted William his former title of Prince of Wales and bestowed Kate with the Princess of Wales moniker.

Prince George, meanwhile, is said to becoming increasingly aware of the important role his great-grandmother, who was the UK's longest reigning monarch, had. As reported by the Mirror, Prince William said his three children got to spend a lot of special time with the Queen and 'create memories that will last their whole lives'. Princess Charlotte and Prince George were accompanied on either side by their parents, who walked behind the new King Charles III and the Queen Consort, Camilla. At the time, he and Middleton had both been speaking to those who gathered outside Sandringham House to honour the Queen. Receptionist Jane Wells from Long Sutton in Lincolnshire said she told Prince William how proud his mother would have been of him.

North Carolina Department of Adult Correction officer Sam Poloche

The task force that was serving the warrant on Monday had received training in a variety of matters over the years, according to Ronald L. Davis, the director of the U.S. Records from the North Carolina Department of Public Safety show that he spent time in prison in 2011 and 2013. Since 2001, he had been criminally charged more than four dozen times, on counts including breaking and entering, assault and possessing firearms as a felon, records show. In addition to Officer Poloche, 42, the victims were identified as Alden Elliott, a 14-year veteran with the State Department of Adult Correction and the father of one child; Thomas Weeks, 48, a deputy with the U.S. Marshals Service and the father of four children; and Joshua Eyer, an officer with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department who had been honored last week as an officer of the month by the city.

Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral takes place at Westminster Abbey

The publication noted that Charlotte was seen exiting Westminster Abbey, where the Queen's funeral took place, on Monday. She appeared to wipe tears away from her eyes while surrounded by other family members including her mother, Kate Middleton, and older brother, Prince George. ET did note that Charlotte appeared to be in better spirits after this moment. But, it's clear that this was a hard day for many members of the royal family. Following the memorial service, the late monarch’s coffin was marched to Wellington Arch by members of the royal family including King Charles III, Prince William, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward and Princess Anne.

Poignant moments at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, from emotional royals to funeral wreath

She and Prince Harry were later seen heartwarmingly holding hands as they departed the service. Prince Edward and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, who sat up at the front of the service, were feeling moved early on in the ceremony. "He’s done a lot for young people with the Prince’s Trust," referring to Charles’ youth charity that helps young people get jobs and education. He said his father served in the British Army’s Pakistan regiment, and both his uncles also served in the British Army. The group later joined with the choir of the Chapel Royal for a rendition of "Like As the Heart." The funeral's attendees sang "The Day Thou Gavest, Lord, Is Ended."

As Entertainment Tonight reported, Princess Charlotte even appeared to get emotional at one point during the event, leading royal fans to Twitter to share their own thoughts about the solemn day. Eventually, Mr. Hughes left the house, armed with a firearm, and was fatally shot by officers near the front yard, the police said. In addition to the four officers who were killed, four others suffered injuries that were not life threatening.

He said two women ran outside the house, as did another man, and authorities crashed an armored vehicle through his backyard to reach the two downed officers. Marshals task force raced into his yard, taking cover behind a powder-blue Honda sedan. Adams later told the USA TODAY Network that Congress has "done this kind of thing” before, commemorating those who have fallen or been shot. She said the "time is up for that."

Charlotte was spotted correcting both her brothers’ deportment during the Trooping the Colour procession. George, Charlotte and Louis were brought to many events celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June, delighting royal fans. The queen's dogs and her horse were brought as their owner was taken into the same church, St. George's Chapel, where her husband was buried in April 2021.

Following the funeral, video footage taken at Wellington Arch seemingly showed Princess Charlotte telling her brother Prince George to bow as their great-grandmother's coffin passed them. Emma, the monarch's fell pony, stood by as the ceremonial procession of the coffin arrived at Windsor Castle for the committal service. Thousands upon thousands of flowers – cut, not planted – dotted the route.

Prince Harry was spotted looking emotional at the state funeral service for his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. On Monday afternoon, a deputy greeted Ms. Poloche at her home, bearing the news that her husband, a slightly reserved man who loved his two sons, had been shot while serving a warrant in Charlotte. “Just a few weeks ago I’m shaking his hand congratulating him for being officer of the month in our command center. Contributions may also be donated to the families of the four officers killed, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Tuesday. "Contributions will be directed either to the family or as specified," the department said on X, formerly Twitter. Marshals Task Force officer were injured and are still recovering from their wounds.

George, nine, and Princess Charlotte, seven, walked behind the Queen's coffin as part of a solemn procession past hundreds of guests through the gothic church. Princess Charlotte cried openly following the funeral for her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. She was 96 years old at the time of her death and was the longest-reigning monarch in British history. Her full name, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana name is meant to pay homage to King Charles III, Queen Elizabeth, and her late grandmother, Princess Diana. Prince William and Princess Kate’s seven-year-old daughter attended the state funeral along with her brother Prince George, 9. Her youngest brother, Prince Louis, is only four and did not attend the service.

Tuesday afternoon, she stood in front of the damaged house and marveled at the destruction. And she wondered aloud if the gunman had been sneaking around the upstairs of his house, shooting down at police officers from multiple locations. Two women were brought in for questioning after they exited the house, the police department said in a statement.

Her final resting place will be alongside her late husband, Prince Philip, her father, King George VI, her mother, Queen Mother Elizabeth, and her sister, Princess Margaret. Following the Queen’s funeral service, the UK’s longest-reigning monarch will be laid to rest at Windsor Castle in a private service. She sat with her mom, dad, Prince William, and older brother, Prince George, 9, in the church. The youngest member of their family, Prince Louis, 4, did not make an appearance.

Her funeral did not take place until 11 days later, though, as there was a period of mourning in the United Kingdom first. Charlotte and her brothers had actually just started a new year of school just on day prior to The Queen’s death. Princess Charlotte has drawn attention from royal fans over the years due to her striking resemblance to her late great-grandmother, who died on Sept. 8, at the same age. Meanwhile, Charlotte’s youngest sibling, Prince Louis, 4, wasn’t present at the funeral. Ahead of the monumental event, Kate opened up about her child’s response to his great-grandmother’s passing.

Looking back, it’s incredible to see how LA’s unique pizza culture developed over the decades. It likely started in the early ‘80s with Wolfgang Puck’s then-innovative smoked salmon pizza at Spago. But in recent years, Los Angeles saw a notable rise in non-Californian operators making the Westward leap by introducing New York, Detroit, and Neapolitan-style pizzas. The result is Los Angeles being a hotspot for excellent pizza dough topped with local ingredients by chefs who obsess over sauce and delicious pies. What started as a pandemic pop-up is now a successful brick-and-mortar pizza-and-cake restaurant in Echo Park. Folks Pizza owner Joey Booterbaugh is a longtime student of dough fermentation.

Huge variety of delicious pizzas!

Former Bootleg Pizzeria operator Kyle Lambert is a deep-dish Detroit-style pizza specialist. These square slices are plush, made with naturally fermented dough that features an ever-so-slight tangy flavor. Lambert and partner Courtney Glowacz operate from a small takeout-only Culver City slot with a rock-and-roll vibe that resembles the camaraderie part of the Bear’s first season. The $30-35 square pies are laden with cheese and personality and suit any mood. Slices are available during the day from noon to 3 p.m., with pies only from noon until 9 p.m., Wednesday to Sunday.

Collectively, the range of delicious possibilities gleaned from the template of crust, sauce and cheese is astounding. Thanks Pizza is some of LA’s unfussiest pizza, but it is pie-making at its best. The wood-fired dough comes as a cheeseburger or Hawaiian pizza, along with the simple pepperoni. Head to California Marketplace’s third floor in K-Town to place an order for a nine- or 12-inch pizza.

This New Haven pizza specialist works out of the Glen Arden Club patio in Glendale. Expect blistered pies topped with all the familiar classics, including pepperoni, ricotta cream with sausage, and clams. Those in the know should pre-order online for darkly burnished, thin, delicious pies. With recent media coverage, the place has grown to three or four times the volume it normally produces, so be patient and order a few beers while waiting.

Since then, the Dovras family has dedicated endless amounts of time to bettering their restaurant. Is also the perfect place for chefs to approach pizza as both personal narrative and personal expression. Tradition, innovation and nostalgia bake together into beautifully mottled canvases. Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. For almost five decades, Leominster House of Pizza has been committed to serving delicious food to its surrounding communities.

Roberta’s wood-fired, slightly chewy, beautifully charred pizzas include classics that made the OG Brooklyn spot famous and are available in Culver City or Studio City. Try the bee sting with pepperoni and hot honey or the famous original with tomato, mozzarella, parmesan, caciocavallo, oregano, and chile. Always-rotating, super-fresh vegetable dishes, well-mixed cocktails, and puffed-up pizza dough masquerading as bread and served with creamy cultured butter make this more than the average pizza joint.

The driving distance from Charlotte, North Carolina to High Point, North Carolina is:

"People want to complain about the economy and everything like that," said Greg Poff, 49, a Republican who said he is concerned about border security. "If you can control the flow of people into the country and get the people that aren't supposed to be here out, everything else will fall like dominoes." Like a lot of voters, Arris doesn't mention 2020, Trump's last year in office, when the COVID-19 pandemic brought the economy to a near standstill. Asheville is also where to find Biltmore, the historic family estate of the Vanderbilts and America's largest home. The 8,000-acre house and grounds offer a full day, or more, of fun, including a winery, gardens, historical sites, a spa and a village to explore.

Need a relaxing beach weekend? Check out Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina

Sure, western North Carolina steals the show when it comes to mountains, but that doesn’t mean the area of east Charlotte is without its fun. Morrow Mountain State Park, about an hour from Charlotte in Albemarle, is named after one of the tallest peaks in the Uwharrie Mountains at just over 900 feet. Here are some suggestions for hikes within day-trip distance of Charlotte, including favorites from listeners who responded when we asked on social media. It’s worth pointing out that this is nowhere near an exhaustive list of hiking trails.

One challenge is that many people are still using pre-pandemic prices as their benchmark, so any other economic message the president is trying to send isn't breaking through. He also spends a lot of time talking about his efforts to curb housing and prescription drug costs and eliminate junk fees.

Fall marks another ideal time to visit Charlotte, as temperatures cool off, family travelers retreat for the school year, and hotel prices come down from spring and summer rates. If you're looking for fall foliage or a side trip to the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains or mountain towns like Asheville, plan on visiting from mid- to late October to see the leaves at their peak. In Charlotte proper, you can expect comfortable temperatures in the 60s and 70s F for most of the season and lots of fall-themed events. With ideal temperatures and highs in the 60s and the upper 70s F, the entire city in bloom, and outdoor and other attractions operating on extended hours, spring is the perfect time to visit Charlotte.

You’re sometimes more likely to have the walk to yourself within this county of 1 million people than during peak hiking season in North Carolina’s more popular remote parks. Summers can be oppressively hot and humid in Charlotte and crowds at major attractions like Carowinds, the U.S. But with plenty of air conditioning and water-based activities, it's still a great time to visit the city.

Service and Comfort on the bus from Charlotte to High Point, NC

It is, however, a starting point for places that a Charlotte resident could drive to in less than three hours, spend a few hours in the woods, and make it home by nightfall. Don’t let development and traffic turn you off to the Queen City’s trails. You won’t get sweeping mountain vistas, but Mecklenburg County has several nature preserves with plenty of wooded trails.

The park’s about an hour west of Charlotte in Gaston County, close to Interstate 85, and it has actual mountains in the metro area. The park has two small peaks (Crowders Mountain at roughly 1,600 feet and The Pinnacle at roughly 1,700). It has a variety of trails, including one that links to Kings Mountain State Park in South Carolina if you’re feeling ambitious. It’s most famous for the Backside Trail, a tough shot upward from the parking lot to Crowders Mountain’s peak, which is full of jutting rocks and offers an often-photographed view of uptown Charlotte. Fall is also an excellent time to visit, with fewer visitors, and temperatures ranging from highs in the low 80s F in September to upper 50s F in November.

Note that hotel rates are at their highest during the season and you may fight crowds for popular destinations, so buy your tickets and make your dinner reservations in advance. Also plan on packing layers, as evenings can be quite chilly, especially in the earlier part of the season. It covers 52,000 acres, including the Birkhead Mountains Wilderness, a 5,100-acre wilderness that has what the U.S. Forest Service describes as possibly the oldest mountains in North America. Uwharrie forest is also home to Badin Lake Recreation Area, a popular spot with access to roughly 40 miles of trails ranging from easy to difficult. Crowders Mountain State Park is kind of the hiking spot for the Charlotte region — for good reason.

Charlotte's craft breweries, art museums, public parks, recreational activities, and varied neighborhoods make it a year-round destination, with over 50 million visitors annually. Compared to most of the country, the weather is tolerable 12 months out of the year. Fall is also a great time to visit the city, with parks in all their splendor, ideal temperatures, fewer crowds, plenty of outdoor festivals, and options for short getaways to the nearby mountains. South Mountains State Park is about one hour and 15 minutes northwest of Charlotte, in Burke County. The park sits on roughly 20,00 acres, and it’s a good in-between hiking area before getting to some of the state’s higher peaks.

There are about 40 miles worth of trails to explore and some great waterfall views. Be warned, there’s some elevation here, so expect more strenuous hiking than in the Charlotte area. Grandfather Mountain State Park is one of North Carolina’s most iconic hiking spots. It’s also home to some of its toughest hiking — think rugged terrain with the occasional ladder or cable. It’s a little over two hours northwest of Charlotte, but keep in mind that the terrain on some trails here might make for a slower-than-usual pace, so arrive early if you’re only hoping for a day hike. (For example, the Grandfather Trail takes hikers up and down 1,872 feet over just two and a half miles.) The state park is free, but there’s also a paid area with access to the Mile High Swinging Bridge.

Lows hover around 60 degrees F (15.5 degrees C) at the beginning of the season and drop to 32 degrees F (0 degrees C) by December. There is also less rain in the fall, which will give you the option to explore the area's many outdoor activities as long as you wear layers. Winters are mild, with temperatures ranging between 30 to 60 degrees F (-1 to 16 degrees C). Winter also brings fewer crowds, cheaper hotel rates, and cheaper plane fares. Elk Knob State Park is actually one of North Carolina’s youngest state parks, at just 18 years old.

I no longer live in the area, but I still plan to revisit a few of these spots in the next year when I'm in North Carolina for a visit. You'll find plenty of unique shops to visit downtown — including one of my favorite independent book stores, Firestorm Books & Coffee. If you're into art, the River Arts District houses artist studios in former factory buildings while downtown is home to beautiful architecture and plenty of galleries to visit. While there's now a White Duck Taco Shop location in Charlotte, I still highly recommend stopping at the downtown Asheville location.

While those are popular spots, I've always been a bigger fan of Wrightsville Beach. The water is cleaner and the beaches a little less crowded than Myrtle, and it's a much closer drive than the Outer Banks. It's a short two-hour drive from Charlotte, and it has pretty much everything you could want from a quiet weekend getaway.

It's also touched upon in the episode Post Mortem, her team acknowledging her open sexuality. Taub mentioning to Chase about Thirteen having "Sapphic sex". "Sapphic" refers to lesbian/ism, from the Greek lyric poet Sappho who lived on the island of Lesbos. Thirteen survived You Don't Want to Know when Jeffrey Cole tried to save his job by dealing with the Devil, and House fired him as a result. By Games, Cuddy forced House to choose only two of the remaining four applicants. Cuddy then played right into his hands by saying that he can't have an all-male team, and he had to hire Thirteen (because she's the nicer one) as well.

House (TV series)

House calls Thirteen and Cole who have found the patient's car, but it is behind a locked fence with two angry dogs. When House asks them what's taking so long, Thirteen says that the car was towed and the yard's locked - they can't get the key. House responds that it's why he sent two of them - one breaks in, the other posts bail. When Thirteen says that getting arrested isn't what she's worried about, House says, "Not a problem. You know how to kill dogs, right?" and hangs up.

Woman found dead in shallow grave struggled with addiction: Sister

The patient shows a new symptom - partial deafness in his right ear. House thinks it might be Cushing's syndrome. The patient still wants the drug to be used on Thirteen first. Thirteen is obviously suffering from the drugs she's taken before, but takes the needle from House and injects herself. The patient finds out that Thirteen has no more than ten years left to live.

Houston mother arrested, allegedly found drunk in car with infant

After the two drive the woman to the hospital, she awakes alive but in custody. Thirteen apologizes, but her friend lashes out, claiming she only used Thirteen because she needed someone to talk to in prison. Thirteen later confides in Chase that his theory is right, and that she is afraid she will be consumed by guilt.

Final diagnosis

House prescribes Methylprednisolone for the Sjögren's. After its first five seasons, House was included in various critics' top-ten lists; these are listed below in order of rank. It's not a show about addiction, but you can't throw something like this into the mix and not expect it to be noticed and commented on. There have been references to the amount of his consumption increasing over time. It's becoming less and less useful a tool for dealing with his pain, and it's something we're going to continue to deal with, continue to explore. We knew the network was looking for procedurals, and Paul [Attanasio] came up with this medical idea that was like a cop procedural.

Relationships

Foreman almost loses his medical license, resulting in House ordering the couple to either break up or quit. The couple fake a split and continue their relationship in secret, but come public after House discovers they are still seeing each other. Initial relationship strains develop during the episode "Simple Explanation (5.20)" when Foreman tells Thirteen he needs time to himself to grieve and process Kutner's suicide. The conflict is resolved during the funeral when Foreman reaches out for Thirteen's hand, and Thirteen, surprised by the gesture, accepts. Instead, several of the character's traits are implied before they are depicted as true.

The patient's lungs are clearing up and it looks like he will fully recover. However, the wife starts having heart problems. Meanwhile, back at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, Martha M. Masters is presenting the case of a junior high science teacher. Everyone gets paged and they learn House is going to be out of the hospital for three days. The team, apart from Masters, try to run for the exits to take some vacation, but Masters reminds them the message also says to call if they have a case.

The CT showed a calcification near the superior pyramid of the left kidney. She says she's merely trying to live life to the fullest. As Foreman and the team go through the case file, Thirteen laments that her private life is on display, but also thinks it's just dehydration from drugs. Foreman asks if Thirteen was also taking drugs. House orders Thirteen to do a bone marrow biopsy.

However, he also asks her back because her work has improved, but she thinks that he did fired her in order to get her connect with the patient. House notices that Thirteen's lips are cracked from the use of her inhaler. He is struck with an idea, and asks if Spencer cried with tears when told she was going to die.

At first, Foreman defends his actions, but after realizing Thirteen was right about him acting like House, he apologizes to Janice and gets her into another trial. That evening, instead of going to the hospital's Christmas party, Foreman and Thirteen stay behind and make out. House has realized that it's a plant and Wilson was faking the ex-hooker girlfriend too.

Chase wonders why Dr. Richardson isn't coming down from the high of the medication they gave him. Foreman thinks it might be a symptom and not a side effect. Dr. Richardson lets it slip that he snuck out of the hospital to go to a seafood convention. The team is dismayed - the seafood isn't local and could be carrying all kinds of diseases. However, Thirteen remembers toad eggs can make people high and give them nausea. The antidote is fast acting, so they could get him on his feet quickly.

EDS in itself isn't a diagnosis, as no subtype is mentioned. Although hypermobile type is inferred, they didn't do the standard Beighton and Brighton test to diagnose. House returns Thirteen to her house and asks for gas money. He also promises to kill her when the time comes and even offers to use his baseball bat now if that will be convenient.

However, when Thirteen starts being late for her appointments, Foreman breaks in to her apartment to determine if her self-destructive behavior has started again. Instead, he finds that Thirteen has been following the instructions he gave her to the letter. When she returns, he confronts her and she admits she's late for appointments to avoid the other patients whose symptoms remind her of what's in store for her. Foreman tells her to be on time from now on and to stop feeling sorry for herself. Writers Doris Egan, Sara Hess, Russel Friend, and Garrett Lerner joined the team at the start of season two.

The Dig is a 7th season episode of House that first aired on April 11, 2011. It's the 150th overall episode of the series. The episode is set approximately one year after the episode Now What?
